Blogging and Content Management Systems (CMS) abound on the internet. Some are better than others, and then still some rise far above the rest. And while some blogging and CMS systems may rise to the top of the list with Wordpress, Wordpress still rises higher.
Why is WordPress so good? The feature set that they allow their users access to is remarkable given the price of the software – free! Due to the open source nature of WordPress many smart users and programmers have been able to make significant contributions to the development of the WordPress platform and the plethora of plugins available to the large WordPress community. WordPress recently released its newest version termed “Coltrain” or WordPress 2.7. The “Coltrain” update brought WordPress users a higher level of control and usability. The automatic plug-in installer has also saved many blogmasters a lot of time by skipping the download, unzip, and install via FTP process.
WordPress is wonderfully and easily integrated into the bloggers lifestyle. With most webhosts offering it via an autoinstall, and the automatic plugin installer, the only time that is wasted on the FTP side is with themes. I imagine that in subsequent updates of WordPress an automatic theme installer will also be included. Maintenance on WordPress is also virtually hands free due to the integration of an automatic upgrade option located in the “tools” section of the “dashboard” panel. WordPress 2.7 essentially lets the blogger focus on blogging, without having to worry about manual updates to the software or plugins.
For easy usability, incredible developed options by the WordPress community, in detail tutorials on the new WordPress.tv, and freedom of use the WordPress blogging software earns itself a 10/10. For simple lifestyle integration via easy installation, automatic updates, and an overall handsfree approach WordPress, yet a lack of simle theme installation, wordpress earns itself a 9/10 giving WordPress blogging software a Techsplosive score of:

The new blog is looking good! Thought you’d give WordPress a 10/10 though but I see what you mean about the themes. There are a lot of good ones out there but you should be able to upload them directly from the admin area instead of having to FTP them. Customization isn’t real easy either unless you know a bit of html/css.

A great way to do easy customizations is to make sure the theme is ready for widgets. However, it is usually good to have a minimal knowledge of CSS and HTML in order to get headers and other things straightened out.
