Technology for the “Soccer Mom” Lifestyle

by Techsplosive on March 1, 2009

The term “soccer mom” is a cliche term referring to the mother who leads a buys lifestyle.  The typical soccer mom manages her childrens school, sports, and activity schedules, typically drives a minivan, and never misses one of little Junior’s soccer games.  I have outlined below, the different pieces of technology that will assist in making the soccer mom’s lifestyle mire efficient and manageable.

Cellphone. A cell phone is almost an essential for the “on-the-go” kind of lifestyle that soccer moms lead.  The wireless nature of mobile phones and vast coverage of wireless networks allow for maximum portability.  Mrs. Mom can make her calls whenever and whenever she wants to or needs to.  Cellphones also give mom a high level of accessibility should she need to be reached in the case of an emergency, or even routine phone call.

Menu Planner. Soccer moms generally have a lot to get done in the course of a day, and therefore can’t afford to waste time.  Sitting down once a week at tastyplanner.com can shave hours off of time spent menu planning and grocery shopping.  At TastyPlanner, users can browse and share recipe and menu ideas.  TastyPlanners awesome menu planner system allows users to plan menus weeks in advance based upon the database of recipes at the site.  Each time a recipe is selected and put into a menu, a printable shopping list is automaticall generated.  Does it get any easier than this?

Pedometer. Despite “running around” all day, mom might not feel like she is getting the exercise she wants.  This is where a pedometer comes in handy.  Using a pedometer offers mom an effortless way to monitor and track her exercise, distances walked, and calories burned from walking.  Tracking steps can be addicting, and many people strive for a higher number of steps every day – because they can see the real results of their exercise.  Simple new habits like parking further from stores can help in getting that step count up to the desired amount.  Additionally, most pedometers are relatively inexpensive, and are easily hidden if mom doesn’t want to advertise here stats to the rest of the community.

And of course, with Mother’s Day off in the not-so-distant-future, there are a few more less practical, yet equally as enjoyable pieces of technology that mom would be sure to enhoy, but it might be best to wait until she has these three figured out and master first.
