Accessory Week: LapTop Accessories

by Techsplosive on April 6, 2009

During Accessory Week, I will be highlighting and rating different accessories for tech products and gadgets that we use evey day. If I miss a cool accessory that you think should have been featured, feel free to share via comment.

Accessorizing has hit almost every sector of technology and gadgetry.  Today, we will look at some of the most popular and most useful laptop accessories.

Carrying Case. Probably the most commonly owned laptop accessory is the carrying case.  Chances are it is even more popular amongst women than men.  For most males, laptop toting abilites have been integrated into messenger bags and brief cases.  The same goes for women who tote the same bags.  For the women who choose to use a smaller handbag instead of a larger one or messenger style bag, a variety of options are available from simple zippered cloth coverings to exquisite designer leather bags.

MacBook HardCase. It is almost impossible for Apple to create a new product without creating the need for a whole bunch of new sub-products and accessories.  The newly older-gen macbook’s white color spawned the need for hard plastic protective casing to add some color to the computer, along with a little scratch, dent, and drop protection.

Stickers.Stickers.Stickers. Perhaps the most popular of all laptop computer accessories are stickers.  Many bands and companies freely give away stickers knowing that they will gain decent exposure and advertising on the outside of people’s laptops.  Gmail is the most recent prime example.  They gave stickers to any who requested, and are now gaining large amounts of exposure via laptop advertising.  If you are embarassed by the nudity of your computer, check here for some free sticker giveaways.

Cooling Centers. Many people complain that laptops are to hot to use on the lap, or are concerned that their computer will over heat on a desk and cause something to catch fire.  To those who feel the need to keep the temp of their laptop at a minimum, cooling centers are available.  The laptop cooling center is essentially a device that contains a fan or two, and is placed underneath the resting laptop in an effort to cool the computer down.  The effectiveness of such devices is disputed, but a few brands do perform well.

Some other interesting stuff...
